Mission Trip to Manaus, Brazil
Flights: Our group will depart from Miami.
Destination: Our group will fly to Manaus, the capital of Brazil’s Amazon region and an amazing starting point for our adventure.
Cancelation policy: You must cancel the trip on or before October 15, a non-refundable fee of $247 will apply. Cancellations made after November 15 will incur a non-refundable fee of $500.
Accommodations & Meals: For most of the trip, our group will stay at a hotel in Manaus. On Tuesday and Wednesday, however, we will stay aboard the mission boat, where lodging and meals will be provided. Participants will sleep in traditional hammocks, as is common throughout the Amazon. Those who prefer may bring a sleeping bag and sleep on the deck instead.
These two days will offer a unique opportunity to experience life on the Amazon River while serving local communities. Come prepared for adventure, flexibility, and an unforgettable mission experience.

November 29 (Sunday)
Depart from Miami in the afternoon. Exact flight time will be confirmed.
November 30 (Monday)
Arrive in Manaus at approximately 3:00 AM.
Afternoon: Guided tour of Manaus, the gateway to the Amazon.
December 1 (Tuesday)
Board the missionary boat and travel approximately 4 hours along the Amazon River to the mission site.
December 2 (Wednesday)
Full day of mission activities in the Amazon River communities.
December 3 (Thursday)
Return by boat to Manaus while enjoying the breathtaking scenery and unique experience of traveling on the Amazon River.
December 4 (Friday)
Mission activities and outreach in the city of Manaus.
December 5-7 (Saturday - Monday)
Mission activities.
December 8 (Tuesday)
Free day to explore Manaus and enjoy local sightseeing.

Who is organizing this Mission Trip?
Advent Mission Trips is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting individuals, churches, and Christian organizations with life-changing mission opportunities around the world.
Our mission is to make mission trips more accessible, well-organized, and impactful by providing experiences that strengthen faith, encourage Christian service, and bring hope to the communities we serve.
This Amazon Mission Trip is being organized by an experienced team with many years of involvement in international mission projects. Working alongside local leaders and organizations, we are committed to providing every participant with a safe, well-planned, and spiritually meaningful experience.
Our commitment is to take care of every detail of the trip so you can focus on what truly matters: serving others, growing spiritually, and making a lasting difference in the lives of those you serve.
What types of activities and projects will we be involved in?
We will engage in various outreach initiatives to create a meaningful impact in the local community. These projects include visits to orphanages, light construction work, food distribution for families in need, and organizing activities for children. In addition to these efforts, we will also participate in engaging activities such as sports, team games, arts and crafts, teaching English, and sharing music. Each activity fosters connections, provides support, and brings joy to those we serve. We will also enjoy visiting the city of Manaus in the Amazon and exploring its tourist attractions. When are we departing, and when are we returning?
Our group departs from Miami on the afternoon of November 29, 2026, arriving in Manaus early on November 30.
Which airport are we departing from?
Participants’ included airfare is from Miami.
The main group departs together from Miami.
Some members of your leadership team will travel from other airports, such as Washington, D.C., to support the trip.
What are the entry requirements to Brazil?
U.S. and Canadian citizens need a visa to enter Brazil. If you are a national of a different country, please check online to see if a visa is required for your country.
The Brazilian visa costs $160. You can apply for your visa using the following link.
Alternatively, we can assist by completing the forms and processing the visa application for you for a service fee of $89 per person (plus visa costs of $160).
What type of accommodation are provided?
Hotel: Five nights at a hotel in the city of Manaus
Comfortable rooms in Manaus accommodate up to four guests per room. There are single and double rooms.
A single or double room will cost an additional $40 per person, per night.
Boat Experience: two nights aboard a boat on the Amazon River
You'll sleep in a hammock on the boat for four nights (no private rooms available).
If you prefer, you can also bring an air mattress to put beneath it.

Can my minor child participate? (Ages 18 and under)
We encourage parents of minors to join this trip, as it presents a wonderful opportunity to share a meaningful experience with their child. If a minor is traveling without their parents, a notarized letter signed by both parents is required. This letter must identify the designated guardian responsible for the minor during the trip to Brazil. It should also confirm that the parents consent to the minor's travel to Brazil for this mission trip and indicate the trip dates.
What language do they speak in Brazil?
Brazil's official language is Portuguese. While English is not widely spoken outside of tourist areas such as hotels and resorts, we will have Brazilian team members with us who can assist with translation when needed.
Are there any shots required?
Please check with your doctor regarding any vaccinations recommended for travel to Amazonia.
Is there Wi-Fi available?
Wi-Fi will be available at the hotel.
Will my phone work in Brazil?
It depends on your phone and service provider. Contact your phone carrier to inquire about available international plans.
How safe is this Mission Trip to Amazon, Brazil?
What should be included in my preparation checklist for the trip?
Safety is our top priority, and we have implemented measures to ensure a secure experience for all participants throughout the trip.
Site Boundaries: The Site Director will clearly outline the designated site boundaries, and we ask all participants—both minors and adults—to respect and adhere to these guidelines.
Supervision for Minors: Minors must always be accompanied by an adult leader when away from the housing site, whether participating in a project, walking, or engaging in other community activities. Additionally, local team members will accompany the group 24 hours a day to provide extra support.
These measures are in place to ensure a secure and positive experience for everyone involved.
Alcohol and Drug Policy: The use or possession of alcohol and illicit drugs is strictly prohibited on this trip.

What medicines should I bring for the mission trip?
Prescription medications: Bring all prescription medications you take regularly, ensuring you have enough to last for the entire trip. Keep them in their original prescription bottles and store them in your carry-on luggage.
What other items should I bring for the mission trip?
Sunblock and sunglasses: Essential for protection against harmful UV rays.
Antibacterial hand wipes or hand sanitizer: Choose an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Insect/mosquito bite prevention:
Lightweight, long-sleeve shirts, long pants, and a hat for outdoor wear whenever possible.
What should I know about food and dietary options during the trip?
Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals will be provided.
For participants with diabetes: Please bring your own sugar or any specific dietary items you may need.
Is there a checklist of items I should pack for the trip?
In July, Manaus experiences warm temperatures, with average highs around 31°C (88°F) and lows near 23°C (73°F).

Clothes: Jeans, t-shirts, shorts, underwear, and modest attire suitable for church. Please avoid bringing clothing that is too tight or revealing.
